Upon arrival, guests will be picked up at Edinburgh Airport by a chauffeured motorcoach and transferred to St. Andrews, where they will stay at the 5-star Fairmont St. Andrews for the next four nights. An afternoon practice round is set up for guests to test their game at Kingsbarns before embarking on the three competition rounds that await them in the coming days. Kingsbarns PGA Pros will be at the ready, providing guests with tips on how to hit the key type of shots that are needed to navigate the links during the tournament. Guests will reconvene later that evening for a welcome cocktail reception and dinner at the clubhouse at the Fairmont with sweeping views of the North Sea. Pairing and tee times will be unveiled, and there will be a few spirited contests to get the energy going for the balance of the week.
On Thursday afternoon competition begins as participants tee off for the first of three rounds. Lunch is provided at the course each day. Paired with a caddy from one of the best programs in all of Europe, golfers will play a best ball Stableford format, attempting to gain the most points during each round. Kingsbarns Distillery will provide on-course tasting stations of their wide variety of whiskeys, gins and wines to calm the nerves and give guests a sample of Scottish spirits. Friday brings about round two of three of the competition. With guests now having a couple rounds under their belt, it is time to go low (or high in Stableford) and separate from the field. Once again Kingsbarns Distillery will on property to provide complimentary tastings for the golfers as they make their way around the course. Once round two is complete, the evening will be open for guests to head into St. Andrews and explore the town. A complimentary shuttle will run back and forth from town during the evening, allowing guests to come and go as they please. Be sure not to stay out too late, as the final round awaits the next morning!
Saturday dawns and the final round begins. All of the knowledge built up over the previous three days comes into play as guests aim to card a final score that will put them on top of the leaderboard – in a position to take home the Whiskey Barrel trophy….the trophy for the Inaugural Heritage Classic. Guests will convene for a final time this evening for an awards dinner at the Fairmont St. Andrews where they’ll enjoy a gourmet dinner and wine tasting. Scottish entertainment will be provided….as well as a few other surprises you will just need to be there to experience.
Sunday morning arrives and guests will be transferred to Edinburgh Airport for their return flights home. With four days of competition and comradery complete, new memories have been created and lasting friendships made. A shared passion for golf has brought the field together and will be a bond that continues to tie many of us together in the years to come.
